Our lovely townhouse (NOT IN A CONDO COMPLEX) is an easy 3-minute stroll from the ocean, in a private enclave in the charming seaside village of Winter Harbor, only 1/2 mile from the entrance to Acadia National Park's Schoodic section. Relax with private back deck views of Cadillac Mountain, beach roses, gulls, and often, bald eagles! Click on my link to see photos, guest reviews and additional information.
Lively Bar Harbor is just across the bay by paseenger ferry (summer), less than than an hour by car via Schoodic Scenic Byway. An easy stroll to the ocean harbor and boat/kayak launch. The Bar Harbor ferry (seasonal), restaurants, antiques, art, groceries, ice cream, the famous Winter Harbor 5&10, Farmer's Market (seasonal, Tues.) - are all within easy walking distance. Deck overlooks your fenced in yard and grassy meadow, and Cadillac Mt. beyond.
Buy fresh-caught lobsters and cook them in your fully equipped vacation home, or enjoy seafood prepared at one the area's restaurants.
Jones Pond freshwater recreation area (free) with small, sandy beach, picnic/grilling area, playground, fishing and boat launch is only 7 miles away. (We'll tellyou how to arrange for a canoe or kayak and all gear delivered to Jones Pond for an idyllic day on the lake.) Even closer - 2 miles - is beautiful Frazer Point oceanside park/pier/picnic area.
Winter Harbor has a lively arts community. Google Schoodic Arts for All for programs, workshops, activities. People are drawn here by the village, the National Park, and the proximity to Bar Harbor (on Mount Desert Island) , while being able to escape back to the charm of Winter Harbor on the Schoodic Peninsula.
Grindstone Neck Yacht & Golf Club are within a mile.

"_ We are returning visitors to this beautiful townhouse and in the process of renting again for September. It will be our third year renting here and we will continue visiting beautiful Winter Harbor yearly. It is the most relaxing place we have ever vacationed, but if you want a little more excitement, Bar Harbor is not far. Everything was described perfectly on the website we found while looking for a place to stay in Maine. We corresponded several times through email with Kathleen. She prepared us for our stay tho_

Our stay was like in our own home. Kathleen & Bill are great. Their communication and attention to detail cannot be better. Totally recommend this place. One word to describe "Awesome" !!
This is our second visit to Acadia and Winter Harbor, and our second stay in this beautiful home! Everything was wonderful; we could not have had a better time anywhere! Friends came along for this trip; they were totally blown away by the house and the views from Acadia! This has definitely become my "home" in Maine, and since I love it so much, I am sure I will be back!.
This property is conveniently situated right in the town of Winter Harbor. It is very well-maintained, and the owner has taken pains to ensure that visitors have everything they need for a comfortable stay from a well-appointed property with plenty of cookware, plates and utensils to handy tips (including a valuable short cut for the drive between Winter Harbor and Bar Harbor). Kathleen, the owner, could not be more helpful or hospitable. She clearly wants her guests to have a good time and makes herself available to address questions promptly and effectively. If you are looking for a comforatble base of operations for exploring the Down East coast and Acadia, this property is a great deal. It is not big, but all of the three bedrooms are comfortable and we had six people stay there recently without feeling that we were crowded.
We have 4 generations staying here for several nights. First of all the owners were wonderful to work with and the home had everything we needed to have a wonderful time. There was plenty of space for everyone and we enjoyed walking into Winter Harbor to explore, get groceries and to eat. It was a great place to relax after taking the ferry across to Bar Harbor and we could get away from all the hustle and bustle. We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and my 23 year old son and I stayed at Kathleen's home in Winter Harbor in June for a week. We were very impressed with the home. It is very clean and the comforts of home. Our view on the back deck is amazing. On our first day we walked down the street to the ferry to go to Bar Harbor .What a great day .Every day we were riding bikes hiking or just sight seeing. Great restaurants all within walking distance. Kathleen had all the information at the home for everything we wanted to do. We normally go to the Jersey Shore but this is a real vacation. Thank you Kathleen.
