The Morning Mist Homestead is a log cabin that was built around 1850. Iowa became a state in December of 1846. The Homestead owner had to go to Dubuque, Iowa to get the deed in 1850. The Homestead was added on to around 1920. We have restored the log cabin part on the inside to it's original logs. You can see the draw knife marks on the logs and the pegs in the door ways to hold the logs in place. We have updated the Homestead to modern utilities. The Homestead has seven rooms Two bedrooms upstairs, one king sized bedroom and one Queen sized bedroom. The Queen sized bedroom also has a Queen sized futon in it. Both bedrooms are cooled by a Judiso unit. The units are controled individually. Downstairs there is a large kitchen, a TV room a fireplace sitting room, a semiprivate TV room with a Queen sized convertabed,, and a bathroom with a washer and dryer. The Homestead is a pet friendly rental. We also have the Cabin and the Cottage on the farm. These three together accomadate up to twenty seven people. This works great for large get togethers. The Homestead also has a large deck with a table that seats ten people. There is a nature trail on the property as well as one hundred and twenty acres that you are welcome to explore. We also allow limited hunting on the property. This is not paid hunting and all the game are in their natural settings. there are several venues in the surrounding area; Trout fishing, Mississippi river boating and fishing, golf courses, city swimming pools, historical sites, the field of dreams, cacinos and etc. Come for a relaxing time and visit the suromding area. Did we mention that there are several Amish stores in the area as well..
