I always want a water view when I get a chance to take some time off, and I ask you, what could be more perfect than staying on a boat, where the ocean becomes your front yard? I stayed on Silver Cloud for a few days, and absolutely loved it. Yes, it's on the water, so you will feel movement, and yes, if you have claustrophobia, the size and ceiling height of this particular craft might bother you -- but it didn't bother me at all! This was the best use of small space I have ever encountered, and it's probably larger than some NYC apartments! Great little kitchen with stove/microwave, a fridge and freezer, 2 flat screen TVs, closet space, a couch and a lovely banquette that can turn into another sleeping area (though I didn't use it that way). You can lounge topside, and just a few steps away, up the ramp, enough green space for you and your dog o walk alongside the bay.. Appreciated the thoughtful touches left by management: basic spices, coffee/tea/creamer, fresh fruit, oatmeal and OJ. Nice neighbors, very quiet, beautiful sunsets. Two things you should know: nothing goes in the head but what comes out of you, so you do have to adjust to that, and fighter jets from nearby naval base are so loud they set off car alarms, but you get used to it after awhile, and when you're inside the boat, with hatch closed, they are a lot less noticeable. Special kudos to the housekeeper. The boat was spotless. And many thanks to manager Shaun for immediately answering operational questions, and making little glitches go away. I'm going back again!
My husband and I stayed aboard Silver Cloud for two nights recently. We were in San Diego for a friend's wedding near Mission Beach. In my search for a place to stay, I stumbled upon the Boat, Bed, and Breakfast San Diego; and we're so glad we chose to book it! Very helpful/friendly staff. The Shelter Island Marina was easy to find using a GPS with the address provided. The boat is conveniently located in a slip near the marina itself: near many restaurants and very close to the shower facilities/bathrooms. When you check in you get a discount card to many of the area restaurants. The boat itself has a toilet and shower on board. The shower was great for a quick rinse, whereas the marina showers were great for a nice long, hot shower. The marina bathrooms were very clean, with private shower stalls. Towels are provided. There are plenty of outlets/mirrors-I was able to get ready for a wedding on the boat with no problems. The bedroom/bathroom obviously aren't HUGE, but I would happily sacrifice the space for such a unique experience :) We did not use the boat to cook; but it does have a stove, fridge, and freezer. The fridge was stocked with a nice selection of fresh fruit, juice, and yogurt among other things for breakfast/snacks. I'd recommend a nice cup of coffee in the morning and taking a stroll down the docks! The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the area was quiet except for the birds chirping in the morning. The nights cooled off nicely; but if you stay in the summer it does have air conditioning on board. The marina has kayaks and bikes available to rent during your stay. We took a 2-person kayak out one morning and paddled around the marina area and saw about a dozen sea lions! Very cool. All-in-all it was an excellent stay and we hope to go back again. I honestly didn't have any complaints. If you're looking for a unique place to stay in San Diego near the beaches and downtown areas; I would recommend the Boat, Bed, and Breakfast!
All I can say about our stay is PERFECT. The boat was in excellent condition and exceptionally clean, which is a huge factor with Alice. The boat was completly stocked with cooking utensils, coffee, orange juice, assorted fruits and oatmeal. We opted for dinner at one of the numerous resturants within walking distance. Part of the package included a discount at several of these resturants. We were introduced to the operation of the boat by a very friendly and energetic Shaun. Her explanations of the boat systems were consice and we had no problems operating the boat during our stay. The marina is very quiet and peaceful, with clean facilities ashore. I would highly recommend the stay to everyone!! Thank you for a memorable adventure!
Booked last minute and really happy Ashanti could accommodate us. We drove down from the Sacramento area and wanted a fun weekend in San Diego. From check in to check out, everything was a breeze. We cooked on board every night and enjoyed cocktails in the evening on the big back deck. Very great full for the central air conditioning, as it was the hottest record weekend in San Diego. We loved this boat and want to come back and try Slipaway.
Got tire of the same old hotel room. Came to San Diego on business and was lucky to find Silver Cloud available. My stay lasted 9 days and it was wonderful! Woke up every morning and and had coffee on the back deck and tried to watch the sun-rise as often as possible. The staff at the marina was great, they changed out my towels when I asked, Although I could have used the shower on the boat I just used the shoreside facilities each day for showering. Hands down I would come back and stay here again. Hopefully, next time I won't have to work the entire stay.
