Zen Tera Sanctuary

I had the pleasure of staying at Zen Tera for one beautiful week this June and for then for two more glorious weeks this August 2011. I fell in love with Savary Island many years ago, but I have never had a place I loved to stay at as equally until now. Zen Tera is the best place to stay for many reasons, it has the best location for me as it is situated on the beach front at the foot of Sunset Trail which is so great, because I found it private and yet it has such easy access to the beach and the meadows. It is very Zen. And, as suggested in the name of the Trail, the ‘Sunsets’ are spectacular. We enjoyed hiking and we all biked the entire island (with the bikes provided). Many days our biggest decision was which beach to go to. But, however amazing our beach time was, we always loved coming back to our lovely Zen Tera ‘Sanctuary’ , where we truly felt pampered and on vacation. Because Zen Tera has been lovingly designed and built by its charming owners, Stanley and Suzie Wu, the attention to detail is what makes this dream home so special. Mr. Wu is a gourmet chef, and so the kitchen is absolutely wonderful for preparing meals, so whether we wanted a quiet dinner inside, or a fun meal on the wrap around decks it was perfect. We had many beautiful meals outside with candlelight basking in the sunset glow and later, lounging on the relaxing reclining deck chairs gazing up at the starlit sky. Afterwards we would sit inside enjoying the glowing fireplace to reflect on our wonderful day and plan the next ideal one. We loved the rustic charm amidst luxurious surroundings, and all of the gorgeous 5 bedrooms open onto beautiful decks. Because the home is newly built and brilliantly decorated, I consider Zen Tera to be much like a spa with 5 star comfortable beds and slate tiled ensuite showers. With a gentle sea breeze lulling me to sleep, I felt truly rested. It was very relaxing and healing. There is a saying I love about the island which is that you might catch an affliction called ‘Savaryitis’ and the only way to cure it is to come back again and again. I definitely have Savaryitis, but…luckily for me, Zen Tera’s ‘Sanctuary’ is the best therapy for this.
