Think about your perfect vacation. If you ideal vacation is getting away from it all, privacy and a little piece of heaven this place is for you! My wife and I stayed here in Feb 2013. We stopped in Hilo on the way to the house and hit the farmers market then did a little more shopping at the local store so we could spend a couple days at the house. The house itself is perfect. It's small bu all you need. What is there is very very nice. Awesome bathroom a great kitchen and perfect decks. Being solar powered was very nice and there is something to be said for being able to pick fruit from the trees in the yard. We had lots of information in the guide when we arrive and the house was very clean and ready for us. We had 4 full days at the house and never heard or saw another soul...perfect! The sunrises were a highlight. Watching the sun rise over the ocean while watching the geckos sun themselves was a easy highlight. Although we did go to the nearby blacksand beach, and did some wave watching the best days were the ones where we never left the property. Our only regret was not spending the whole vacation there. We will be back!

I stayed at Andy & Bob's cottage for a last-minute vacation during Thanksgiving 2010... and I still dream of it. The cottage is even better than pictured, extremely well-designed, peaceful, beautiful, romantic, restorative. I have been to Hawaii many times (my brother lived in Oahu for a few years), so I always appreciate those places that feel laid-back and conjure off-the-beaten path old Hawaii, not a generic hotel. I flew in on the night flight, so I stopped at the Hilo Farmer's market to load up on fresh fruits, coffee and flowers. Though as others had mentioned, there were fresh fruits and flowers waiting at the cottage, such a nice touch! I loved going to the natural hot pond morning or evening, visiting Kailoni for yoga classes (and even a delicious Thanksgiving dinner!), and taking a night hike out to view the lava flowing into the ocean. It was a perfect vacation — completely soulful, just what I needed after working day and night for months to launch a new product. The owners and their local manager were very responsive to my every need (even letting me check out later due to a night flight), and returned my deposit promptly with a very nice thank you note after my departure. I recently moved to the east coast, so getting to Hawaii isn't as easy as being in California, but when I go back, I want to return here.

My husband and I stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon - it was heaven. Not a stone left unturned!!! We took advantage of the fresh produce from the garden, rainbows every afternoon and pure tranquility.
