Long before the special law was voted a few years ago declaring our town a “traditional settlement”, a unique protected area architecturally, culturally, geographically and historically within Greece and Europe, we  the inhabitants of Bytina have nurtured the quaint atmosphere of our town, with the stone houses and the carved arched doorways.  Bytina is famous for its black marble.  But Unlike the incredibly well preserved Classical Ancient Greek temple of the Epicurean Apollo a few miles away from the town, it is built more like a labyrinth than a classical ancient Greek theater or temple.  Our town, the contemporary town of the Homeric Methydrion, a town with its own coins and eponymous Olympic champions of antiquity,  of the Byzantine Andreocaston, and of the heroes of the Greek revolution, promises to make you fall in love with it.  Meander through Bytinas mews to find your myth and make believe and weave you own fairy tail.  Come as a couple, with friends or your whole family ..
