The Berg House is quite the find! It is located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood with plenty of parking available. We stayed here for a week to celebrate Christmas together with our family. The house was exactly as described and depicted in the ad. It was very cozy and yet roomy enough for 7 adults and a one year old. The fireplace was a nice asset, - especially at Christmas. This property was clean and meticulously maintained. No sooner did the snow fall, and the porch and sidewalk were cleared by Ray, the housekeeper, who even made a point of calling us to let us know which side of the street not to park on due to snow clearing. This was our first stay in St. Paul and we fell in love with this beautiful city. The Berg House is ideally located within walking distance to anything you could want. Sven even shared his membership number to the Mississippi Market Co-op. We imagine it is equally lovely in the summer and hope to return to find out. If we do return to St. Paul, this is where we'll stay! Thank you Sven, Olga and Ray for providing such comfortable accommodations!
We stayed at the Berg house in February during part of a 17 day streak of sub-zero temps. We agree with all the fine things said about this house and the surrounding area. What we thought was worth adding is that this house, with all the old and classy features you expect from a vintage home, was very warm and cozy and comfortable despite mother natures failed attempt at getting inside. The fireplace, the old hot water radiators (with a state of the art boiler) the wood floors, the mix of natural old wood features and the trim with zillions of coats of paint, all lend comfort and charm.
Spent an extended weekend at the house with another couple and it was perfect! Less expensive than two hotel rooms and so much more for the money. The fireplace was an added bonus, keeping us so cozy after cross country skiing and while watching the Olympics. The home is charming, has everything you need, and is excellently located. Add to this two full bathrooms that are adorable and you have a perfect rental! We will definitely stay again!
My wife and I and our 4 children spent 2 weeks at the Berg House this past August. We were absolutely delighted with our stay. The home is spacious, well furnished, and centrally located within St. Paul. One very cool aspect was having Ray, a caretaker who looks after the house, address any needs immediately when they arose. He's very responsive, and will take care of anything. I liked the outdoor patio area that was private via overhanging trees, gave you a chance to hang out outdoors, bbq, with privacy. The house is close to everything, including Mississippi Market, parks, shops, etc. Our kids biked every day. I would recommend to anyone and would rent it again.
I was able to gather my daughters, their spouses, grandchildren, and siblings together for an early Christmas celebration at the Berg House. The kitchen had lots of room to prepare our meals, and the dining room could be made to stretch to 16 places, ( we added a card table). We mingled and conversed in a spacious older home.
