Overlooking the 1200 acre Star Lake and the Highland State Forest sits one of the most unique and beautiful log homes in Wisconsin, the Star Lake Retreat. It is located 10 miles northwest of Eagle River in Vilas County just south of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The property is surrounded by two acres of private land. There are numerous trails for hiking in the spring, summer and fall months, as well as for cross-country skiing in the winter. A great North Woods experience, the pet friendly Star Lake Retreat was constructed in 1995 of 250 year old hemlock pines felled by a tornado. Situated on a ridge, this log home has a fieldstone base and stone terraced lawns. It’s truly a work of art.

The tri-level, three bedroom, year round vacation home has large picture windows facing the lake and woods on the main floor and Anderson windows to enjoy the view on the lower level. There's a balcony off the master bedroom with king-size bed, and two other upstairs bedrooms with twin and double beds. Beneath the balcony is a large picnic area overlooking Star Lake, with an octagonal cedar picnic table, Weber grill and large fire pit for campfires. The lower level serves as an extra furnished living area with sofa sleeper.

The home has Norwegian craftsmanship with pine and slate floors. The living room with huge stone fireplace, TV and stereo. There are two glider rockers to relax and enjoy views of the lake, a large sofa, stuffed recliner and old fashioned wooden rocker. There is a sandy beach, fishing pier and boat launch in campground below, providing lake access for guests.
