Nearby Attractions: - Portage Lake Golf Course features a beautiful 9-hole course, which guarantees frequent wild animal sightings. A snack bar is also on site. A public beach is just a short distance away which also has a new playground area. Coffins General Store offers snacks, groceries, gas, ATM machine, etc. Dean's Motor Lodge in Portage and Four Seasons Inn & Restaurant in Ashland offers dining enjoyment and frequent Saturday night dances with live entertainment.
Upon arriving at our cabin we noticed a large car jack was holding up the corner of the porch roof ( owner said since we had a 2 year old to be careful since the railings and that corner of the porch were rotted) Also there were multiple cob webs and an ash tray full of cigarettes on the porch as well. Entering the cabin our first visual was 1. Vulgar graffiti 2. Rusted refrigeration 3. Dirty tables, floors 4. Sheets in the one bed made had dirt and hair 5. There was no water at all. The owner had said that we could use the 5 gal cooler ( which had left over water in it and pink slime around the bottom) and go to the bath house and fill it with the hose water. The beach had beer cans and broken glass scattered. Holes in the screen of the cabin allowed for multiple bugs to enter. These cabins are primitive, dirty and areas are unsafe. This is how it should be portrayed, not as a great family outing or a home away from home
