THIS LOCATION AT CATHANCE LAKE IS TRULY SPECTACULAR - A GENUINE CLASSIC DOWNEAST MAINE LAKEFRONT SETTING. Cathance Lake, is spring fed, and considered one of the cleanest and finest deepwater lakes in Maine, relatively undisturbed, and known for its substantial populations of loons and salmon. The lake is located approximately 100 miles east of Bangor, Maine, and about 25 miles west of the Maine/New Brunswick border - in the heart of the unspoiled Downeast Maine interior. THE COTTAGE IS LOCATED DIRECTLY ON THE SHORE OF THE LAKE - the distance from the deck to the water is about 4'; There is a small protected shallow entry in front of the camp; swimming is superb. The bottom is rocky, though relatively level directly in front of the camp. This is the only cottage rented on the premises; THE ENTIRE COMPOUND, AN HISTORIC MAINE CANOE CAMP, IS NEARLY 4 ACRES, with wooded trails and an adjacent garden/camping area, and several outdoor fireplaces - including one directly on the shore in front of the cottage. There are no other rental units on the property, and the view from the compound is uninterrupted lake - for miles. The cottage has THREE BEDROOMS, it is ideal for one or two couples or a small family, The cottage has all the modern facilities - and was totally renovated two years ago. CANOES ARE INCLUDED WITH THE RENTAL. This rental offers a large private property - with plenty of room, and privacy, to relax and enjoy one of the finest settings in eastern Maine.

The accomodations were exactly what we were looking for, rustic, yet comfortable, Martin was so nice, and accomodating to us, and having access to the canoe's was very nice.
