We had an amazing stay at The FBH. We were allowed to bring our dog, which was very much appreciated. The house was comfortable with anything we might need available. The entire property was very well kept and clean. The views from the house, decks and beach were unforgettable. We absolutely loved our time here and can’t wait to go back! Thanks for a fantastic vacation!
We enjoyed a week at the Funky Beach house. Upper and lower decks were great places for meals and relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and all appliances are in good condition. There were plenty of linens and towels provided for our use. It exceeded our expectations. We've never had a cottage this close to the lake, and the water, sunsets and stars were incredible, fires on the beach were unforgettable. We'll be back.
Ahhh, what a nice, relaxing place to vacation. Our family was at the FBH for a week and found it to be ideally positioned with convenient access to a number of waterfalls, nature hikes, Pictured Rocks, rivers and streams. We had wonderful weather and thoroughly enjoyed walks on the sandy beach, swimming in Lake Superior, stunning sunsets and beautiful night skies, great for stargazing. The combination of upper and lower decks right on the beach was an especially nice feature of this Upper Peninsula getaway. There was plenty of privacy and solitude, even at the height of tourist season. The cabin was cozy, cute and comfortable.
Owner Response: Thanks for the kind review! We're very happy you had a great time. Hope to see you next Summer!
The Funky Beach house is beautifully situated on a bluff overlooking the largest, most expansive beach in the area. The house is simple and cute. One bedroom and two futons (one futon in small, charming back bedroom/enclosed porch) sleeps 6 comfortably, but it is a cabin. The gorgeous decks and outdoor bar make this a wonderful place to entertain friends and family. Nap in the hammock and enjoy the view. I love the FBH!
Owner Response: Thanks for the review!
The second bedroom was the front porch. No privacy. The sofas smelled not so much that someone suffered incontinence but that they revelled in it. Reeked of urine. Minimal dishes for cooking. Only three chairs at the dining table. Halfway through we had to pay for a night in a hotel because the toilet quit working. They actually wanted me to come back to let the plumber in early the next morning. The sattelite TV quit working half way through. I was also asked to water their flower beds outside. I'm glad the lawn didn't need mowing. If your looking for the homeowner experience this is it. If it's vacation time, leave this place out.
Owner Response: This "gentleman" and his wife broke the toilet base, and is upset that I wouldn't reimburse him for the week. Sorry, but hyperbole and bald faced lies sure don't help one's case. The furniture is cleaned weekly, and keeping the TV on channel 3 keeps the satellite working. Lightheartedly asking one to water flowers during a drought apparently keeps you too busy, eh? Trust me, renting to your family again would never have happened.
Let's see, where do I begin. First, let me say that I've stayed here every summer for the past 14 years, and it has gotten better each year. The name is perfect for describing your experience; The Funky Beach House. It's definitely funky in its charm & its character, and that's what makes it the most amazing place to come back to year after year. The sand is spectacular (it's Great Lakes sand, so of course it is), the air is as crisp as morning dew in Spring...it is Nature personified. The space of the house is perfect as well. We had 9 adults (with an air mattress on the floor) sleeping in the house one night, and no one had a bad thing to say about their nights sleep. The Master is actually rather large for the size of the house, and the 2nd BR/Sun Room/Mud Room (facing the beach) is the space that we all fought over; for me it was due to being surrounded by an AWESOME collection of classic beer cans (heaven). Not to mention you've got a view of the beach unmatched by any other. It's an image that stays in my mind year round. If you're looking for big cloud-like beds and massive LCD TV's and XBOX, then well you're probably the type of individual who really likes "NOT BEING IN NATURE" and "THE OUTDOORS", so you're probably not reading this. If you are reading this you're all about staying in a cute little cottage 100 ft. away from the largest fresh water lake in the world. This cottage is perfect; all the cooking necessities, the sleeping quarters, the "indoor plumbing" (HOO AHH!!!), the fireplace, the Satellite TV, the sound system (that carries onto the beach), the large beautiful deck, the breeze, the sun, the water (you must bathe in it every morning as soon as you awake), the bonfires on the beach, the clear views of the stars, THE NORTHERN LIGHTS at 3:00 am (OMG) ...all combined, it is my Wife's and my Garden of Eden. In fact I just shed a tear thinking about it, and decided to book for next summer 2011. See ya soon FBH! ;-)
Owner Response: Thanks for the kind review. Last summer we actually had 5 people who have been guests of ours many times. We appreciate the support.
